Walk a New Path

Spring WalkOne of my teacher’s decided to enjoy walking, after noting the expressions of determined “power walkers” and identifying herself among them. Hmm, sounded like someone I knew too.

I spent decades push-push-pushing myself to exhaustion and beyond in a misguided effort to live life with “purpose”. Being busy equalled “purpose” in the poorly written script I acted out daily.

Fancy giving yourself permission to relax and enjoy walking! To amble along, drinking in the colours of the day instead of planning next week. To feel the elements on the skin with sensual delight and enjoy rain showers, instead of worrying temporarily damp clothes. To feel the textures of unusual plants in pretty gardens. To draw in the fragrance of the life around, good or bad, and allow it to fill your senses.

Walking has offered me countless moments of beauty ever since, and blessed relief from a hectic day. Spring is definitely the time to See, Hear, Smell, Feel the world around you. Permission granted 😉
