Aust Unity Backtracks on Yoga Promise

I’m really sorry to say that Australian Unity has backtracked on its promise of support for yoga rebates, despite its assurance to Yoga Australia that it would offer them if students came with a letter from their GP and had a certain level of health cover.

One of my students, who had Top Extras cover with Australian Unity, took the time and trouble get a letter from her GP to support her need for yoga and was denied a rebate from the health fund on the grounds that yoga was not a health activity it supported.  I’ve now dropped my extras cover with Australian Unity and will look for a new health fund.

What disappoints me is that I transferred to Australian Unity because I thought it had integrity. My kinesiologist had recommended them and I was also impressed by the addition of complementary health articles in its Wellplan members magazine.  Now I know it’s just all talk.   Shame, great shame.
